"Motion-Capture (mocap) is the process of recording the movement of objects or people" (Vicon 2018) this doesn't capture details of a character only the movement. This is captured through markers on a suite worn by the actor. This data can be captured using blade and then transferred into motion builder to be put on to a character model of your choice.
Examples
There are many examples of motion capture being used in films. The earliest record of using motion capture was in the Walt Disney studios. They crated movement in snow white by tracing over film footage of actors playing out the scenes. This is more commonly know as rotoscoping. Since the advancement of technology more modern examples of the use of motion capture in animation is The polar express.

Although this film uses motion capture many critics say the mixture of the textured models and the human like movement makes the characters come across as creepy. The lord of the rings also used motion capture to create many characters including one of its main characters Gollum famously played by Andy Serkis.
